Can you tell me more about the certificate programs? These programs, developed for criminal justice professionals, offer college classes in 40-hour modules. Participants attend class for one week (Monday –Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.). Three semester hours of college credit will be awarded upon the successful completion of each class and after any/all assignments have been submitted to the professor. You will receive a class syllabus several weeks prior to school so you will be able to prepare. Back to Top What is in the application packet?
Back to Top Can I apply on-line? No. Certificate Program candidates must apply through Wynn Sullivan at Armstrong Atlantic State University. Applying on-line through the Armstrong Atlantic State University will delay your application from being processed for this certificate program. Back to Top Do I have to provide original high school transcripts AND original college transcripts? Some students do have to provide both sets of transcripts. Students who attended college, but have less than thirty (30) transferable* semester hours, have to meet freshman admission standards, which means providing the original high school transcript. (* Transferable meaning that the semester hours are from an accredited university. Please direct all questions regarding transferable hours to the Registrar's office at AASU, 912.344.2576). Back to Top Can I go to my high school/college and pick up my transcripts? Yes, you can go to your high school/college or GED board and pick up your transcripts. For us to accept them as original documents, they must be in the original sealed envelope. If you open these transcripts, they will not be considered official, and we cannot accept them. Back to Top I have attended more than one (1) college. Do I have to get transcripts from each college attended? Yes, AASU requires that we have original transcripts from each college attended. Back to Top I took the SAT/ACT in high school. How do I obtain my scores? If you took the SAT/ACT in high school, then your high school should have record of these scores, and submit the scores along with your original high school transcript. If, for some reason, your high school does not have your scores, you may contact:
Back to Top I do not have SAT or ACT scores. Students who do not have qualifying SAT/ACT scores take the College Placement Exam (CPE). Qualifying scores are 430 verbal/400math for the SAT, and 17 English/17math on the ACT. The exam has three (3) parts: English, math and reading. Each part of the exam lasts for 45 minutes. This test is for PLACEMENT only. It is not possible to fail this exam . Wynn Sullivan or Linda Hansen will schedule this exam for you. Back to Top I did not graduate from high school, but have a GED. What do I do? You will need to contact the high school you attended, and request an official transcript showing your classes and grades, starting with your 9 th grade classes, along with your withdrawal date from high school. You will also need to contact the Board of Education in the state where you received your GED and request that an official transcript of your GED be sent to the law enforcement program specialist at AASU. (If you received your GED in Georgia, you can call 404.679.1644 or write to the Georgia Dept. of Technical & Adult Education, 1800 Century Place, N.E., Suite 555, Atlanta, Georgia 30345-4304. Requests for GED's can take up to six (6) weeks to be received from Atlanta.) Back to Top The application packet requires a Certificate of Immunization. What is that? All applicants must submit a University System of Georgia Certificate of Immunization form. You may submit a copy of your childhood or military shot records as proof of immunization. Otherwise, have a physician complete the form at the time of immunization. Your county health department can also provide the required immunization and complete the form for you. Back to Top How do I check on my admissions status after sending in my application? Call the Center for Justice Administration at 912.344.3222 or 912.344.3085 Back to Top Where do I mail my completed application?
